The Elect Melcher Committee is cordially inviting you, your family, and friends to stand with Stephen R. Melcher for his filing for candidacy to be Re-Elected as Vanderburgh County Commissioner!
Stephen is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard of Evansville with combined service of ten (10) years and obtained the rank of Sgt. First Class., E-7.
Stephen believes his role as a Commissioner is that of a public servant, and he has long emphasized the importance of leadership that provides economic development opportunities that welcome diversity. Stephen’s record reflects his opposition to any restrictions based on gender, ethnicity, age, disability, religion, race and economic background.
Stephen has a strong fiscal background in business. Graduate of Bosse High School and attended University of Southern Indiana. He worked in the private sector 27 years at Ohio Valley Sound as Vice Present & Operations manger. He resigned to accept a position at Community Action Program of Evansville (CAPE), a non-profit organization and after15 years of employment as Facilities Director Stephen retired on December 8, 2011 in order to devote full-time service to the elected position of Vanderburgh County Commissioner.
Stephen considers himself a vital link to his community and is actively involved in neighborhood associations and United Neighborhoods of Evansville. He works to provide residents with a sense of fairness in the government process and to provide an improved quality of life for our families and neighborhoods.

Mr. Melcher has served both his Country and County with distinction. He was no way part of the Team Weinzafple/Owen+Jarvis+Robinson+Mainstreet types to sabotage the Mr. Davis for Mayor campaign. He was and is loyal to his party. Too bad he is not the Democratic Party Chairman! Do I have a second!
